Must Have Afghan Faryab Kilim Runner (5)

Faryab kilims are woven in northern Afghanistan, made almost entirely by women who pass their methods from mother to daughter. The geometric tribal patterns belong to family traditions, with each weaver contributing her own hand to the design.

This runner is newly woven, fresh from the loom and constructed entirely from natural wool fibres. The yarn is hand-spun Ghazni wool, taken from the Ghazni sheep of Afghanistan and widely regarded as some of the finest carpet wool available. It absorbs and holds dye exceptionally well, allowing the colours to remain rich and true through decades of foot traffic. The weave is finer and tighter than that of a standard Afghan kilim, giving the pattern sharp clarity and the flat surface a clean finish.

Because this is a traditional pileless flatweave on a wool foundation, the rug is completely reversible. When one side eventually shows wear, it can be turned over, effectively giving it two separate lives
