New Arrival Vintage Afghan Baluch Rug

This vintage Afghan Baluch rug belongs to the Baluch weaving world, shaped by nomadic and semi-nomadic communities across eastern Iran, western Pakistan and southern Afghanistan. For generations, weaving was central to Baluch life, rugs were made on portable horizontal looms, woven by women who carried the craft from generation to generation through memory rather than pattern books.

The motifs, bold geometric medallions, hooked diamonds, stylised animals, protective tribal symbols, were not copied from templates. They were known, remembered and interpreted afresh by each weaver’s own hand. This vintage Afghan Baluch rug pairs a hand-spun wool pile with a wool foundation, all knotted by hand.
